In the final analysis, the soldiers that use DSTATS are in the best position to judge the benefits of DSTATS and to determine how it can best be used to accomplish real-world training. The soldiers that wrote the following comments make a convincing case that DSTATS is a valuable training tool that provides comprehensive training for a variety of fire support systems at all echelons.

Comments About the Multiple Uses of DSTATS
I just wanted to say Thank You for the help and teaching DSTATS to my unit. We used it the entire time at AT. The final product had 3 scenarios with over 350 lines and was used 6 days straight. It worked perfect.
We use DSTATS as a supplement to our AFATDS sustainment training plan, for leader and soldier validation, BBS exercises to simulate absent elements, and as an additional PC when needed.
Utilizing DSTATS to create message scenarios in the WMD and Homeland Defense arena is critical as the mission of FA may be geared towards that area.
Use DSTATS w/SISTIM and AFATDS pushed scenarios.
DSTATS is used as a training aid and as a monitor to help have more accurate AAR's with digital training.
We have had the DSTATS system for some time but had nobody trained on it. I cannot tell you how much effort we have put into trying to create something similar and had to do everything manually to train on the IFSAS systems. We train a minimum of 4 hours per drill weekend on the IFSAS system. After this DSTATS training, we now have the tool we need to take our IFSAS training to a level that we have been trying to achieve for 6 years. We can now work our Radar's Fire Support, MET sections, and BNs down to the Gun level all at the same time. I wish we would have had the knowledge before now but that is in the past.
DSTATS trains BCS operators on various missions and tasks not normally accomplished because of lack of proper equipment.
DSTATS saves resources and time, is more efficient for prior planning, and has more comprehensive simulated units.
DSTATS gives the instructor the ability to help the trainee instead of having to be on the computer typing during execution of scenario.
Combined with SISTIM, DSTATS provides higher echelon capabilities at both Battalion and the Firing Batteries.
The biggest benefit I see from DSTATS is being able to control the training. Areas that we need to focus on can be prioritized accordingly. We can also control the speed of training, stopping to talk about issues as needed.

Comments About the Multiple Uses of DSTATS Continued
IFSAS training can be utilized far more frequently than the infrequent Janus and Warfighting exercises. We don't have to have all the tactical equipment required to perform the fire missions and we can process these fire missions for up to 20 students.
DSTATS fills a large gap in sustainment training for the BN FDC. It also is used to drive BN level field (dry) exercises by replacing BDE level and other units that we do not have access to (radar. Intel, etc.).
DSTATS allows the unit to closely supervise soldiers and gives real time feedback. Also it makes maximum use of training time.
Being able to train distant batteries via phone line saves transportation costs and logistical planning time.
Finally we don't have any excuses not to work on our MOS's. We don't need a launcher or IFSAS.
DSTATS will take the unit to the next level. We will be able to train everyone on the box before AT or anyone going off to school.
Used for preparation for certification, digital training exercises, new soldier training, and cross-training personnel.
BN can train operators instead of hand jamming.
We integrate DSTATS with our FSCATT to provide full Field Live Fire Training at Home Station for the entire gunnery team.
DSTATS is what we have been looking for. We have been making up our own scenarios and having to hand load in IFSAS using voice.
We set up a DSTATS training lab for weekend drills and take DSTATS to the field for net monitoring use during live fire missions.
We can simulate field procedures more fully, yet we can still be in an environment geared more towards learning.
We are able to focus digital training on one system with minimal personnel and easily sustain digital proficiency through the week, one soldier at a time if necessary.

Comments About the Multiple Uses of DSTATS Continued
The simulation helps train all types of operators (experienced or inexperienced) and helps keep digital skills up to date.
Use DSTATS to do Radar Registration with Q36 EU and Q37 and for generating radar CFF during AT to see target process from start to End of Mission.
Used as BDE training tool in support of AFATDS/SISTIM training.
DSTATS has more realistic radar CFF for the Target Processing section.
DSTATS teaches the operators of IFSAS and AFATDS how the information flow is utilized by both higher and lower.
DSTATS is used to help run DST, to train new soldiers, and to help operators stay sharp with their AFATDS skills.
DSTATS can train units on their own level training and run different scenarios at the same time. SISTIM is not able to do this. We can review AAR with the soldier and are able to sit behind an AFATDS box and see all the links in the chain working.
It will be best used to train our BN FDC in processing BN type missions. Currently most missions are done at Btry level, autonomous from BN.
Assists the unit in training and allows the soldiers to meet and track their standards.
Being a National Guard unit, it is hard to get all sections to train together. DSTATS allows sections to train on their own.
I was surprised at what the DSTATS can be used for.
Use DSTATS to train AFATDS operators to receive and create geometries, unit moves, and fire coordination measures.
It helps us to train our IFSAS operators, bring them up to unit SOP Standards, thus making our live fires go more smoothly.
I will use DSTATS to train both individually and collectively. I'm excited about the possibilities.
