Techrizon, LLC (formally TELOSOK) has been assessed to be a Level 5 under the guidelines of the Capability Maturity Model® Integration (CMMI®). Techrizon teamed with its government partner, the Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM), Software Engineering Center, Fire Support Software Engineering (SEC, FSSE) in a thirteen year effort to successfully reach the highest level of quality and excellence with respect to software and systems engineering.
The achievement of CMMI® Level 5 is an extraordinary accomplishment. Thousands of organizations around the world use capability maturity models in order to make advances in software engineering, yet in August of 2003 we were one of four organizations worldwide to have reached this highest level of quality rating. CMMI® is the accepted standard of excellence within the Department of Defense.
According to Dave Zubrow, a Software Engineering Institute Appraisal Team Leader, "CMMI® contains the most comprehensive criteria currently available in the software industry to measure the maturity of an organization's business practices and level of software and systems engineering competence. The appraisal revealed the quality of processes, the commitment of the organization to continuous process improvement, and the maturity of the organizational culture."
The CMMI® has helped Techrizon to quantitatively demonstrate the excellence of our workforce, our dedication to quality for the soldier and our return on investment in quality processes for the Department of Defense. Quantifiable and documented results over the past eight years include the following:
Efficiency - Lines of Code per hour (LOC/hr) has improved nearly 47%.
Quality - defects per thousand lines of code (def/KLOC) have decreased by 80%.
Return on investment - Advanced Reuse has provided in excess of $22 million in savings.
About CMMI®: Capability Maturity Models (CMMs) contain the essential elements
of effective processes for one or more bodies of knowledge. The Capability
Maturity Model for Software (CMM-SW) was established through the SEI in order
to facilitate a common understanding of the "best business practices"
for software engineering and provides a basis for common and consistent improvement
in an organization's software engineering processes. The Capability Maturity
Model® Integration (CMMI®) provides guidance on processes involved
in both software engineering and systems engineering and addresses the full
system development lifecycle.
About SEI: The Software Engineering Institute (SEI) is a federally funded research and development center established and maintained by Carnegie Mellon University, and sponsored by the U.S. Department of Defense through the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition, Technology, and Logistics [OUSD (AT&L)]. The SEI's core purpose is to help organizations make measured improvements in their software engineering capabilities.
About SEC, FSSE: The Software Engineering Center, Fire Support Software Engineering (SEC, FSSE) is an integral part of the Communications-Electronics Command, Software Engineering Center headquartered at Ft. Monmouth, New Jersey. SEC, FSSE is located at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. SEC, FSSE's job is to oversee software development efforts associated with a variety of field artillery tactical data systems for the United States Army. The office was established at Ft. Sill in 1976 to allow close coordination with the military during software development and testing activities. Much of the software developed by SEC, FSSE and its support contractors has been used in military conflicts around the world. Several systems were used in Desert Storm in the early 1990's, and some of these same systems have been enhanced and are currently providing fire support for Operation Iraqi Freedom.
