In the
spring of 2003, Techrizon subcontracted with the University of Southern
California (USC) to provide consulting services and subject matter experts
(SME) for the Joint Fires and Effects Trainer System (JFETS). Currently
Techrizon has contracted with the Government to provide system support
to include; writing requirements document, developing training tools,
operating the modules, maintaining computer hardware/software and overall
management of the facility.
The JFETS
simulator combines Virtual Reality (VR) and environmental conditions
into an immersive training experience to give the soldier, sailor, airman
or marine a feeling of suspension of disbelief. That is, make the student
think he/she is somewhere they arent. The observer trains on tactical
tasks and develop exceptional cognitive decision making capabilities,
whether training in open and rolling terrain or in urban terrain.
The experience
is active, as opposed to passive, and is being used to train military
members as Joint Fires Observers (JFO). The simulator manipulates visual
and physical space to give observers the experience of being in and
surrounded by a specific environment that can be easily reconfigured.
JFETS is the only training virtual simulator that prepares students
for actual combat conditions.
The facility
is located at I-SEE-O Hall, Building 3040, Fort Sill, Oklahoma. The
simulator is comprised of four different modules. Each module can be
trained on independently or simultaneously.
